Cistercian College aims to provide for all students, meeting them where they are at. To this end a committed body of over 20 teachers, led by the Dean of Studies, are there to help pupils throughout their time at Roscrea.
The College offers a full range of subjects for the Junior Certificate which all students sit in third year. There is an optional Transition Year Programme which seeks to broaden the students’ horizons and perspectives on education as well as providing a time for them to mature and develop before they are faced with the pressures of the Leaving Certificate. The Leaving Certificate programme is taught over two years and most subjects are offered in any given year, depending on students preferences.
All students have between two and four hours study and homework time each evening. This is one of the outstanding benefits of boarding school and students are given much advice and tuition on using their time well. There is a full time Career Guidance Councellor who helps identify each students potential and to advise on further education and career opportunities after school.
